Dioctyl Sebacate, abbreviated as DOS, is a representative plasticizer of aliphatic dibasic acid esters. Its CAS registration number is 2432-87-3, with the molecular formula C₂₆H₅₀O₄ and a molecular weight of 426.67. It appears as a colorless and transparent oily liquid without mechanical impurities. It features an extremely low freezing point (-65℃ to -60 ℃) and excellent low-temperature fluidity. Meanwhile, it has stable chemical properties, good weather resistance and heat resistance, and can be used for a long time in an environment ranging from -40 ℃ to 120℃. It also has low toxicity and certain biodegradability, meeting safety standards in fields such as food packaging and medical devices. As a high-performance plasticizer, it has excellent compatibility with various resins such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC), synthetic rubber, and nitrocellulose.
It can effectively lower the glass transition temperature of materials, enhance flexibility and low-temperature elasticity, and is mainly applied in low-temperature requirement products such as cold-resistant wire and cable sheaths, sealing parts for refrigeration equipment, food-grade PVC products, and cold-resistant sealing rings for automobiles. It can also be used as a film-forming aid for coatings, a plasticizer for adhesives, a lubricant for metal processing, a pharmaceutical excipient, etc. It is widely involved in multiple industries such as chemical engineering, automobiles, medicine, and electronics. When in use, it should be sealed and stored in a well-ventilated and dry warehouse, avoiding direct sunlight and fire sources. Protective equipment should be worn during operation.
