Plasticizers are the type with the largest production capacity and consumption of plastic additives. So far, the world's plasticizer production capacity is about 6.4 million tons, its output is as high as 4.3 million tons, and its consumption reaches 4 million yuan. Moreover, the global plasticizer is being added at a rate of about 3% per year. In terms of regions, the demand for plasticizers in Europe and the United States each accounts for 25% of the global market, the Asia-Pacific region accounts for about 35%, and the other regions account for about 15%. By 1999, the total consumption of plasticizers in Western Europe, North America and Japan was about 2.74 million tons, which accounted for 56.7% of the total consumption of plastic additives in that year. Among them, the plasticizer production structure is mainly phthalates.
The largest consumer market for plasticizers is Asia, and the region with more plasticizer capacity is also Asia. The main types of plasticizers in the sub-technical area are: dioctyl phthalate (DOP), diisodecyl phthalate and diisononyl terephthalate. The reason for the addition of plasticizers in this area is the development of the urban and rural construction industry, which drives the increase in the demand for chemical building materials. At the same time, the development of transportation industry and car manufacturing industry, the increase of population and the improvement of people's living standards, etc., have many demand for PVC products in many consumer fields.
