Lianyungang Jiaao's Bio-Based Aviation Fuel Meets Airworthiness Certification Requirements

On March 13, 2025, Jiaao Enprotech announced that its subsidiary, Lianyungang Jiaao New Energy Co., Ltd., recently received the Technical Standard Approval Certificate from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). This certification confirms that the bio-based aviation fuel produced by Lianyungang Jiaao meets the airworthiness certification requirements set by the CAAC.
Earlier, on November 21, 2024, Lianyungang Jiaao successfully completed the feedstock input for its bio-based aviation fuel project in the Lingang Industrial Zone of Guanyun County, Lianyungang. The project produced qualified products that meet industry standards.
The project, named 100,000 tons/year waste oil fat conversion to biomass energy, has a total investment of 7.157 billion RMB. It is a large-scale, sustainable aviation fuel production base established in partnership with Honeywell in Guanyun County in 2022.
The project is being built in 2 phases:
- Phase I includes one 500,000 tons/year bio-based aviation fuel unit and one 500 tons/year sulfur recovery unit.
- Phase II will add another 500,000 tons/year bio-based aviation fuel unit.
The construction period is 24 months. Once completed, the project is expected to produce 730,000 tons of bio-based aviation fuel, 840,000 tons of biodiesel, 108,400 tons of bio-naphtha, and 204 tons of sulfur products annually.
Additionally, on August 22, 2024, Lianyungang Jiaao signed a strategic cooperation agreement with bp Global Investments Ltd. bp agreed to invest 353 million RMB into Lianyungang Jiaao, aiming to accelerate the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) through Hydroprocessed Esters and Fatty Acids (HEFA) technology.
