Epoxy Butyrate: Applications and Advantages of a Versatile, Environmentally Friendly Plasticizer

Leave a message

Epoxy butyrate is produced by esterification of oleic acid and butanol, followed by epoxidation with hydrogen peroxide. It's a colorless to pale yellow oily liquid at room temperature, soluble in chloroform, ether, ketones, benzene, higher alcohols, and other organic solvents. It's an excellent plasticizer for polyvinyl chloride (PVC), with high efficiency, low plasticization temperature, good compatibility with PVC, and excellent physical and mechanical properties of products. It exhibits good thermal stability, weather resistance, cold resistance, and low-temperature flexibility. It has a biobased content greater than 80%.

In terms of applications, its molecular structure does not contain a benzene ring, making it pass various environmental protection tests such as RoHs, PAHs polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, Phthalates phthalate salts, and high-concern substances SVHC according to EU standards. Besides its use in general plastic products such as plastic films, heat shrinkable tubes, cling films, non-filled blown films, printed films, artificial leather, etc., it's also suitable for high-end products like medical devices, food packaging, children's toys, and so on.
