Application
Trioctyl Trimellitate (TOTM) is a high molecular weight plasticizer widely used across various applications, including PVC, electrical components, and high-temperature environments. It combines the benefits of both polyester and monomer plasticizers, offering plasticizing efficiency and processing behavior comparable to phthalate plasticizers, while surpassing polyester plasticizers in compatibility, plasticizing performance, low-temperature performance, and electrical properties. TOTM is particularly well-suited for heat-resistant wire and cable materials, as well as other durable and heat-resistant products like planks, sheet materials, and sealing plates.
Its robust performance ensures reliability and longevity in demanding applications requiring high viscosity, oxidative stability, excellent solvency, and superior lubricating characteristics. Additionally, TOTM's low volatility makes it ideal for use in products like vinyl automotive interiors, molded parts, dishwasher gaskets, seals, and telephone wires. When used with a stabilizer, it becomes even more effective in electrical applications, including cables and wires. TOTM also blends seamlessly with other low-volatility plasticizers such as DUP or DOTP, and as a lubricant ester, it serves as an excellent API Group V base fluid or additive for high-temperature environments, such as engine oils, compressor oils, high-temperature chain oils, and greases.
